Summer Tyres

Summer tyres are essential when the temperature rises permanently above +7 degrees Celsius. Finnish road traffic legislation does not mandate the use of summer tyres, but a good summer tyre offers significantly better grip, handling, and fuel efficiency compared to a winter tyre on warm asphalt.

A good summer tyre combines low rolling resistance, effective water dispersal in wet conditions, and a durable tread compound suited to warm temperatures. The EU tyre label provides comparative data on fuel efficiency (A–G), wet grip (A–G), and noise level — we recommend choosing at least class B for wet grip to ensure safety.

Change to summer tyres in good time in spring, once the risk of frosty nights has passed. In the Jyvaskyla region, this typically means the end of April or the beginning of May. Tyres should be changed at a professional workshop where balancing is also carried out as needed.
